Things to do in Eldoret Kenya

I had missed visiting Sergoit hill located eastwards from my home in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County & decided to visit the hill last weekend. While riding on a motorcycle and doing spot checks on the vast green maize fields along Naiberi-Kaptuli road, I realized that I should make a blogpost about the things to do in Eldoret area Kenya, and to start with The scenic Sergoit Hill.

Sergoit hill

Sergoit Hill is a rock outcrop that rises above the Uasin Gishu Plateau. The Hill has an elevation of approximately 2,090 meters above sea level, It is located 20kms northeast of Eldoret and 3 km off the Eldoret-Iten road towards Moiben.

Sergoit Hill is not only steeped in cultural heritage but also enriched by enchanting myths and legends that have been passed down through generations. This revered and sacred site holds a special place in the hearts of the surrounding communities, continuing to fascinate both residents and tourists.

The Kruger family have lived at the foot of Sergoit Hill since 1908, carrying out large-scale farming. Now on its fourth generation, the family commercially farms wheat and barley, as well as dairy farming, and are also big conservationists. The Kruger family co-own the property around the Sergoit Hill with the Sergoit Golf and Wildlife Resort.

Kipchoge Keino stadium

World record holder for the women’s 1500m and mile, Faith Kipyegon (C) runs with fellow athletes during a training session at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret on May 4, 2024.

The Kipchoge Keino stadium located in Eldoret town along the Iten road is named after legendary athlete Kipchoge Keino and is often used as a track training facility for many local and international runners.

For many years,  it remained a patchy ground with no semblance of a modern stadium until about ten years ago when the government started a plan to renovate and upgrade it to international standards with facilities for athletics, football and other indoor games.

Rupa’s Mall

Discover the ultimate shopping and hospitality experience at Rupa’s Mall, the largest destination in Eldoret, Kenya. With an impressive range of world-class brands and services, including the luxurious Eka Hotel, it’s no wonder Rupa’s has become a symbol of excellence in East Africa.

Most importantly is to note that Rupa’s is also a passionate supporter of the Eldoret City Marathon, helping athletes achieve their dreams and contributing to the city’s vibrant atmosphere.

It is also a calling all animal lovers! Get up close with lions, turtles, hyenas, snakes, and more at Poa Place Resort Eldoret. Adventure awaits – plus great food, amusement park thrills, and total relaxation.

Events and night clubs.

Eldoret has maintained a vibrant economy and nightlife even as neighboring counties surrounding it struggles. I think Eldoret is a centre hub and investment centre for all the people living around the area. Infact most athletes, business people have most of their investments in town.

Corrupt county officials from the area go to spend their proceeds of crime in Eldoret and not their own counties.

The Best Clubs and Lounges to visit in Eldoret include;
