Faith Kipyegon training

“About the 5000 you know I just wanted to improve on my time to lower my personal best and have fun of that 12 and a half laps, so when I was finishing. so then I was finishing and I was like, huh.. 14:05” Faith kipyegon after breaking the 5000m world record. So you might be asking what kind of training do faith does?

Faith wakes up every morning to go for training as she says she does that because of passion and loving what she does. She trains at Kaptagat here in kenya a place where the famous Eliud kipchoge and Geoffrey Kamworor trains. Their camp is called global sports training camp.

When asked why, Faith says she is always motivated by them because they always run 42 kilometers but the men’s group start then them they follow since the men’s group are stronger.

Monday: Morning she wakes up and go for easy runs

Tuesday: Track running at either kaptagat or tracks within the area.

After their morning training followed by freshening up they take breakfast of tea, eggs, bananas and slices of bread and the whole day of resting.

Lunch is always beans , rice and potatoes and vegetables.

Dinner: meat, ugali, vegetables and mursik

Sifan Hassan training

Sifan trains in Ethiopia because of the high altitude and our good African weather suitable for her. She says she cant train in Netherlands because of snow.

Sifan Hassan’s training program is all about staying in top shape for her races.

On Monday, she starts with easy running for 50 minutes and does six 150-meter stride outs to get her muscles ready for the week.

Tuesday is about keeping a steady pace with a 15-minute tempo run, followed by a 20-minute run slightly faster than her usual speed for 5 kilometers. She tops it off with some short, quick runs called 300-meter cutdowns.

Wednesday, it’s back to strides, doing the 150-meter runs six times after another easy 45-minute jog.

Thursday is all about hills, as she tackles a 60-minute hilly run, pushing herself with a 10-minute hilly grind and five sets of intense 3-minute hill charges.

Friday, she focuses on more stride outs to keep her speed sharp.

Saturday is different with fartlek training, mixing fast and easy running to build endurance.

Finally, Sunday is for a long, steady run of 75 to 90 minutes, giving her body the endurance it needs for her next big race.

For me personally i love the Diamond league season because of rivalries and a s a fan of Faith Kipyegon I’m always obsessing over Faith vs Gudaf Tsegay over 1500 to see how it goes.
